Suffragan Bishop George E. Dobbin
Jurisdictional Bishop George Dobbin got his start in holiness under the leadership of Pastor Marie D. Battle, founder of Praise Temple Apostolic Faith Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was baptized in “Jesus” name on Super Bowl Sunday in January of 1976. The weather records show that date to be the coldest on file in North Carolina for that winter. The only thing he had to hold onto was a confidence that the Word of God was right and the teachings of Pastor Battle. Having spent time in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnamese conflict had left him with a lack of trust in people, regardless of what their title may be, but he found that he could not win a wrestling match with God. About a month later he was filled with the Holy Ghost during a revival conducted by then Pastor Gladys Burton. With the in-filling of the Holy Ghost came a tremendous love for the people of God and a passion to know God and His word. Often times his love for the people of God was thought of in another fashion, but he yielded himself to the guiding hand of his pasture and allowed the Lord to bless him. He was appointed the job of Treasurer for Praise Temple Church in 1978. This was only one of many positions or jobs that he found himself working on. “Whatever you want Pastor”, became an all too familiar phrase with him as well as many of the members of Praise Temple. Faithful the council and national PCAFI convention, he has been elevated several times throughout the years.
In 1979, then Deacon Dobbin, was elected to the office of Treasurer for the Foreign Missions Department of the Eastern and Southern States Council. This began a string of over 35 years of consecutive service to the Council. Throughout the years with ESSC, Bishop Dobbin has served as the Treasurer of the Foreign Missions Department and Home Missions Department, delegate for the Sunday School Department, delegate for the Young Peoples Department and the Parent Body for the ESSC. Bishop Dobbin served as Asst council chair for ESSC for over 10 years. During his appointment as a District Elder, he was elected by his piers as the Assistant Chairman of the P.C.A.F. District Elders Board which placed him at the center of the District Elders table in the Executive Board Room of the PCAF. Bishop Dobbin was elevated to the position of Jurisdictional Bishop in 2007. He has further served the National Body as an Auditor and currently serves as chair for the District Elders of the PCAFI. However, his greatest passion is to be a great husband, father and the best possible pastor for Christ Temple of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. in Garner, N.C. The ministry has grown and sustained over the years by teaching the infallible Word of God. Bishop Dobbin is the pastor and founder of Christ Temple of the Apostolic Faith Church Inc. which will be celebrating 33 years of ministry in April 2025. Bishop Dobbin deeply believes that we are born in Christ to serve at the Lord’s pleasure. In addition to serving as Pastor of Christ Temple Church, Bishop Dobbin actively serves as council chair for the Atlantic Regional Conference which was established in the summer of 2012. Bishop Dobbin is a man of faith, love and integrity. He strives to live by the scripture Psalms 1:1-“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night”.
Jurisdictional Bishop Dobbin was married to Lady Virginia Dobbin for almost 40 years before her death in June 2012. Together they had five children: Telly, Antonia, Brian (deceased 12/24/21), Sherita and Angela. Bishop Dobbin was blessed to find love again in Lady Queenie Alma Jones- Dobbin and the two were married in May 2017. In addition to his 5 children, Bishop Dobbin is the grandfather of 10 (1-deceased) and one great grand- daughter. He has children and grandchildren in love added to him thru his union to Lady Queenie Dobbin and is the spiritual father to many.
